Nigeria Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle to name final 23-man squad ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying fixtures

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle will announce his final 23-man squad this week ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.

The Malian manager, who released an expanded provisional squad of 39 players last week, will reveal the final 23-man squad before his debut matches in charge of the three-time African champions.

Among the notable inclusions in the provisional squad is veteran captain Ahmed Musa who was called up after almost a year of absence.

The list is expected to be released this week, after the end of the Champions League last-16 games on Wednesday, with the team set to resume camp in Kigali on Sunday ahead of the encounters.

The Super Eagles are fifth in Group C with just three points after recording three draws against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa while suffering a shocking defeat to Benin Republic.

The upcoming fixtures against Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25 are must-win clashes to help secure Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
