Lagos-Ibadan rail line extended to Apapa port complex

The Lagos-Ibadan Rail line has officially been connected to the Apapa port complex in Lagos. 

 

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) made the announcement on Monday February 1. 

 

The statement read; 

 

“On the morning of Jan. 25, 2021, with the successful pouring of the last 25-meter monolithic track bed superstructure of Apapa Port Break Bulk Line, the Lagos-Ibadan Railway was officially connected to the Apapa Port in Lagos.

“The Apapa Port Spur Line of Lagos-Ibadan Railway starts from the Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta and extends southward to Apapa Port, with a total length of 8.72km.

“As a crucial channel linking the mainline of the Lagos-Ibadan Railway to the port, it has become an important transportation passage for the import and export of goods and now serves as a significant guarantee with regards to the comprehensive operational efficiency of the Railway.

"This was an extremely tough nut to crack because of its dense underground pipelines, high underground water level, complex geological conditions, and numerous ground constructions.”

 

Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad who also confirmed this, tweeted;

Nine police officers at Britain’s busiest police station are suspended over ‘racist, homophobic and misogynistic conduct’

Nine officers at Charing Cross police station in central London have been suspended following allegations of racist, homophobic, and misogynist behaviour, the Metropolitan Police and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed.    The suspensions follow an undercover BBC investigation in which a reporter obtained a job as a civilian detention worker and secretly recorded officers allegedly making offensive remarks at the station and while socialising outside work.   The probe also includes allegations of excessive force against prisoners. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) carried out searches of lockers, seizing computers and phones, and effectively sealed off a floor of the station. Chelsea charged by FA with 74 alleged breaches over agent payments from 2009-2022

Chelsea have been hit with a total of 74 charges by the Football Association (FA) with the governing body alleging breaches of their regulations on working with football agents, intermediaries and third party investment in players.   The charges range from 2009 to 2022 and primarily between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons. Chelsea have until September 19 to respond.   A statement from the FA read: "The Football Association has today charged Chelsea FC with breaches of Regulations J1 and C2 of The FA Football Agents Regulations, Regulations A2 and A3 of The FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and Regulations A1 and B3 of The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations. In total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC.   "The conduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and primarily relates to events which occurred between the 2010/11 to 2015/16 playing seasons. Chelsea FC has until 19 September 2025 to respond."...
