ICPC interrogates Lagos council chairman over alleged fund diversion

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the interrogation of Muibi Folawiyo, Chairman of the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, over allegations of extensive financial misconduct.   Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, July 2, ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare said the council chairman is under investigation for multiple offences, including the alleged theft of public funds, diversion of government resources for personal gain, and circumventing official administrative procedures.   “He was arrested at the council secretariat on 42 Broad Street, Lagos, after repeatedly ignoring invitations which he acknowledged,”  Bakare said.   According to the ICPC, the summon was carried out by operatives from the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.  “He is currently in our custody. UFC icon, Ben Askren undergoes double lung transplant surgery

Former UFC fighter and Bellator champion, Ben Askren, has undergone a successful double lung transplant one week after being placed on the waiting list due to severe pneumonia that left him on a ventilator in critical condition.    His wife, Amy Askren, shared an emotional update on social media Monday morning, expressing gratitude and hope for his recovery.   "We are so thankful to share that Ben has received a double lung transplant," Amy wrote. "We are forever thankful to the donor and his family. This is the beginning of a new lifestyle for Ben, but every new day he has is a gift. Trump recalling 48 ambassadors from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and South America

The Trump administration is recalling dozens of ambassadors from posts around the world.  48 envoys were removed from positions in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central and South America.  This follows an initial mass firing of appointees of former President Joe Biden in the early months of President Trump’s second term.  “This is a standard process in any administration,” a senior State Department official told The Post Monday, Dec. 22.  “An ambassador is a personal representative of the president, and it is the president’s right to ensure that he has individuals in these countries who advance the America First agenda.”  The latest recalls, first reported by Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin, would leave the US without envoys in key global hotspots — including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia and South Sudan in Africa; Armenia, Lithuania, North Macedonia and Slovakia in Europe; as well as Yemen in the Midd...
