‘You Can’t Do Better Than Your Predecessors’ - Boko Haram Leader, Shekau Mocks New Nigerian Service Chiefs

Shekau disclosed this in a new video he released on Wednesday.

Boko Haram’s factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, has mocked the newly appointed service chiefs, saying they can’t do better than their predecessors in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday appointed new service chiefs namely Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence staff; Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Awwal Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

In the video that lasted for nine minutes and 56 seconds, Shekau said he heard about the retirement of the previous service chiefs and their replacement with new ones, saying his message was to call them to Islam.

The Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad leader also mentioned the names and roles of the new service chiefs and called them to repent, saying they can’t do anything to destroy his terror gang.

He said, “Leo Irabor, the head of the military, you should have sympathy for yourself, repent and convert to Islam. There is nothing you can do.”

Shekau said Attahiru should not deceive himself because he has a Muslim background.

“Even if you are Muslim but you conduct polytheistic practices, you are no longer a Muslim,” he said.

Nine police officers at Britain’s busiest police station are suspended over ‘racist, homophobic and misogynistic conduct’

Nine officers at Charing Cross police station in central London have been suspended following allegations of racist, homophobic, and misogynist behaviour, the Metropolitan Police and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed.    The suspensions follow an undercover BBC investigation in which a reporter obtained a job as a civilian detention worker and secretly recorded officers allegedly making offensive remarks at the station and while socialising outside work.   The probe also includes allegations of excessive force against prisoners. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) carried out searches of lockers, seizing computers and phones, and effectively sealed off a floor of the station. Chelsea charged by FA with 74 alleged breaches over agent payments from 2009-2022

Chelsea have been hit with a total of 74 charges by the Football Association (FA) with the governing body alleging breaches of their regulations on working with football agents, intermediaries and third party investment in players.   The charges range from 2009 to 2022 and primarily between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons. Chelsea have until September 19 to respond.   A statement from the FA read: "The Football Association has today charged Chelsea FC with breaches of Regulations J1 and C2 of The FA Football Agents Regulations, Regulations A2 and A3 of The FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and Regulations A1 and B3 of The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations. In total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC.   "The conduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and primarily relates to events which occurred between the 2010/11 to 2015/16 playing seasons. Chelsea FC has until 19 September 2025 to respond."...
