The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has extended the online filing deadline for provisional taxpayers from 29 January to 15 February due to the pandemic
“The decision to extend the Filing Season, was taken with due consideration of the traumatic effects being experienced by taxpayers who have lost loved ones, as well as businesses who have lost staff, during the devastating second wave of Covid-19,” said SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter.
He urged taxpayers who received auto-assessment notices last year but who have not yet accepted the assessments, or have not submitted a response, to keep to the deadline.
Provisional taxpayers who have not filed by 15 February will face administrative penalties.
