IPOB defends Eastern Security Network's clash with soldiers in Orlu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has defended the clash between its security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and the miitary on Monday January 25 in Orlu, Imo state. 

 

IPOB’s spokesman Emma Powerful in a statement released on Tuesday January 26, accused Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state of working with the Army to attack and flush out ESN officers from the bushes where they are operating from.

 

While the Nigerian Army said only one person died in the crossfire that ensued, IPOB insisted that five people were killed and several others were injured in the skirmish between ESN and soldiers drawn from the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze.

 

“ESN personnel are in the bush and forest chasing…terrorists and herdsmen who are over there terrorising our members and sisters in their respective farms, not Nigeria security agencies but they are looking for ESN’s trouble.

“Since the formation and inauguration of ESN by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on December 12, 2020, they have been inside the bushes and forests; their job is to protect farmers from invaders who made pronouncements that all lands in Nigeria belong to them.

“Every time, Nigerian Army and the police would come and look for their trouble in the bush."

Nine police officers at Britain’s busiest police station are suspended over ‘racist, homophobic and misogynistic conduct’

Nine officers at Charing Cross police station in central London have been suspended following allegations of racist, homophobic, and misogynist behaviour, the Metropolitan Police and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed.    The suspensions follow an undercover BBC investigation in which a reporter obtained a job as a civilian detention worker and secretly recorded officers allegedly making offensive remarks at the station and while socialising outside work.   The probe also includes allegations of excessive force against prisoners. The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) carried out searches of lockers, seizing computers and phones, and effectively sealed off a floor of the station. Nine serving officers were suspended, two removed from frontline duties, and leadership changes were announced in the custody team and Westminster command.   Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist described the reported behaviour as “disgraceful”...

Chelsea charged by FA with 74 alleged breaches over agent payments from 2009-2022

Chelsea have been hit with a total of 74 charges by the Football Association (FA) with the governing body alleging breaches of their regulations on working with football agents, intermediaries and third party investment in players.   The charges range from 2009 to 2022 and primarily between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons. Chelsea have until September 19 to respond.   A statement from the FA read: "The Football Association has today charged Chelsea FC with breaches of Regulations J1 and C2 of The FA Football Agents Regulations, Regulations A2 and A3 of The FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, and Regulations A1 and B3 of The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations. In total, 74 charges have been brought against Chelsea FC.   "The conduct that is the subject of the charges ranges from 2009 to 2022 and primarily relates to events which occurred between the 2010/11 to 2015/16 playing seasons. Chelsea FC has until 19 September 2025 to respond."...
